Description/Historical Information: Matlock celebrating the Coronation of King George V. The public assembled on the Hall Leys between 9 and 10 o'clock, and first listened selections of music played by the Matlock United Brass Band. The bandmaster was Mr. J. Holmes. They then heard music sung by the Coronation Choir, conducted by Mr. L. G. Wildgoose. The choir consisted of up to 200 voices and had been rehearsing for several weeks. Lubin Wildgoose can be seen conducting, and the brass band is just to the left of him. Services were held at at the Parish Church, All Saints' and the Congregational Church. After lunch there were children's sports on the Cricket Ground, but the evening concert had to be postponed because of heavy rain. There is another picture of the choir and one of the decorated bandstand. See VLA5216 and VLA5203.
