This was one of a series of 24 cards "Péronne & Ses Environs apres le départ des Boches", showing the devastation caused by the bombing in the region.

The card was posted on 9 Sep 1919 and sent to Miss Muriel Hatton, Bellevue Cottage, Waterloo Road, Matlock Bath. The message reads:

Just a card as promised. Hope you are well. Its beautiful out here
Love to you from
John J Weavers
No 39 [possibly 39.S or 9.5] VAD Hostel
32 Stationary Hospital
Aubengue
France".
