Description/Historical Information: |
Man in livery, perhaps a doorman or gate keeper[?], outside the gates of the Porter's Lodge. Whilst you cannot see them here,
there are two tall Doric columns, surmounted by a frieze and entablature, next to each side of the gate. There is also a parapet and a balustrade
over it.
Behind the gatekeeper is the main building of Chatsworth House.
These splendid wrought 17th century iron gates are mentioned on Chatsworth House, 1880.
This is a woodblock print of the house, with accompanying text from a book by Rev. F. O. Morris.
