of the Peace to the General Quarter Sessions of the Peace, held
at Derby, in and for the said County of Derby, the 12th day of
January, 1790.
- PHILIP WALKER, of Matlock, for lodging and harbouring, on the 6th
Day of December now last past, as also at other Times, Vagrants and
other Persons of bad Fame.

A PARTICULAR of the Convictions returned by his Majesty's Justices
of the Peace to the General Quarter Sessions, held for the said county
of Derby, at Bakewell, the Twelfth Day of August, 1790.
- GEORGE WOOD, servant to James Wright of Matlock, Farmer, for riding
in his Master's Cart, and driving two Horses at length without Reins,
or any Person on foot to guide the same, upon the Turnpike Road within
the Liberty of Matlock.

of the Peace to the General Quarter Sessions, held for the said county
of Derby, at Chesterfield, the 5th Day of October, 1790.
- SAMUEL SMITH of Matlock, Gardener, for selling Ale without having
a Licence.

A PARTICULAR of the Convictions returned by his Majesty's Justices
of the Peace to the General Quarter Sessions of the Peace, held
at Chesterfield, in and for the said County of Derby, the 4th day
of October, 1791.
- JOSEPH HODGKINSON, late of the Parish of Matlock, Labourer,for
keeping certain Net, or Tunnel, to kill and destroy the Game.
- GEORGE EVANS of the Liberty of Matlock, for not having his name
and Description painted on his Cart, which was drawn by 2 horses
upon the Turnpike Road in the Town of Cromford.

A PARTICULAR of the Convictions returned by his Majesty's Justices
of the Peace to the General Quarter Sessions of the Peace, held
at Bakewell, in and for the said County of Derby, the 1th day of
July, 1794:
- JOHN ELSE of Lea, Farmer, for using his cart, drawn by one Horse,
on the Turnpike road in the Liberty of Matlock, without his Name
or any Inscription thereon, as required by an Act of Parliament
- WILLIAM ELSE of Lea, for the like offence on the Turnpike road
in the Liberty of Matlock [driving a horse without reins, or any
person to guide the same]
- SAMUEL MITCHELL, Servant to Francis Clay of Matlock, for the like
Offence on the Turnpike Road betwixt Wirksworth and Cromford [driving
a horse without reins, or any person to guide the same] |

A PARTICULAR of the Convictions returned by his Majesty's Justices
of the Peace to the General Quarter Sessions of the Peace, held
at Bakewell, in and for the said County of Derby, the 2d day of
August, 1796:
- George BERRISORD of Matlock, Victualler, for suffering the tippling
in his house, during divine service on a Sunday.
- Samuel ELCOCK of Lea, hatter, for having in his possessiion seven
engines commonly called snares, for the destruction of game, at a
wood called Birchwood, in the Libert of Cromford.

A PARTICULAR of the Convictions returned by his Majesty's Justices
of the Peace to the General Quarter Sessions of the Peace, held
at Chesterfield, in and for the said County of Derby, the 7th day
of June, 1797:
- WILLIAM BUNTING, of the parish of Matlock, Hatter, for agreeing
with John Matkin, Overseer of the poor of the parish of Kirk Ireton,
to serve as a volunteer in the Supplementary Militia, for the parish
of Kirk Ireton, for 8l. 13s., and receiving from him 9s. in
part of payment and neglecting to appear at the meeting held in Ashbourne,
the 8th March last, for swearing and inrolling Militia men for the
Hundred of Wirksworth, and take the oath according to the direction
of the said Supplementary Militia Act. |

A PARTICULAR of the Convictions returned by his Majesty's Justices
of the Peace to the General Quarter Sessions of the Peace, held
at Derby, in and for the said County of Derby, the 9th day of January,
1798:
... for having and keeping Sundry Weights, which were defective,
and not according to the Standard in Exchequer.

A PARTICULAR of the Convictions returned by his Majesty's Justices
of the Peace to the General Quarter Sessions of the Peace, held
at Derby, in and for the said County of Derby, the 17th day of
April, 1798:
- Samuel SKIDMORE, of Masson House in the Parish of Matlock, hosier,
for having unlawfully bought and received of one William CHETWIND,
of Crich, framework-knitter, four dozen pairs of hose and upwards,
manufactured from cotton, being the property of John Saxton and
Co. of Chesterfield, hosiers; he the said Samuel Skidmore, knowing
the same to have been purloined and embezzled by the said William
Chetwind. |
