Place: Buxton
Property / Street / Road: The Empire Hotel
Date: 2 Nov 1914 - 3 Feb 1915
Description/Historical Information: 2/6th Sherwood Foresters (Nottinghamshire & Derbyshire Regiment). The young soldier on the right is believed to be Thomas Wherrett, who had enlisted when only 16 years old. The identity of the other soldier is not yet known. Their guns appear to be a variant of the Martini-Henry. Both soldiers can be seen in the photograph VLA9753 and the young man on the left in VLA9806.
