Description/Historical Information:
2/6th Sherwood Foresters (Nottinghamshire & Derbyshire
Regiment). Three soldiers and a dog named Jock. The dog was presented
to the regiment in Dec 1914 and given a regimental number. Jock also
photographed with the Regiment's officers (photograph in a private collection).
The soldier on the right is believed to be Thomas Wherrett of Church Street, Matlock Town but the identity of the other two soldiers is not yet known.
The soldiers left and right can be seen in VLA9733.
The young man on the left is also in VLA9806 whereas the middle man, holding the dog's lead, can also be
seen in VLA9754.
