"The Great Hall of Winfield Manor House (when in its prosperity) was 24 yards 2 inches and a half long and 12 yards and 1 inch wide. The Great Cellar under it is of the same dimensions & has a Row of Pillars up the middle, & is curiously arched with stone. 'tis now (1769) divided into 2 Cellars & hath been so for several years past. 19 Dec. 1644 Winfield Manor House taken by the King. 20 July 1646 the same was retaken by Parliament. Out of an old Memorandm Book of old Mr. Iman Halton's.

"A terrier of all the gleab land, houses, buildings. tythes or tenths, and all other rights & profits belonging to the vicaridge and Parish Church of Wirkesworth in the county of Derby exhibited at the Primary Visitation of the Rt. Reverend Father in God William Lord Bishop of Lichfield and Coventry held in the parish church of All Saints in the town of Derby the seaven and twentieth day of June in the year of our lord God 1693.

Imprimis The Vicaridge House togeather with three gardens & one piece of ground taken out of the Kitchen Garden and lyeing westward thereof, containeing an acre of land or thereabouts. One barn & one stable and little outhouse adjoyning thereto containing three hayes or thereabouts.

EASTER DUTIES.

Item Every person of the age of sixteen pays one penny for his offerringe for every house three pence-For a cow 1d.-for every calf three half pence-For every foal a penny-for every swarme of bees a penny, from every person for his trade four pence, From every man servant sixpence & maid servant four pence for their wages-Item The Tyths of wool and Iamb throughout the whole parish (except hereafter is excepted) are paid in kind But if the parishoner hath but five Iambs or five fleeces then hee setts the rate & the vicar either gives or takes at his choice And if there is above five Iambs or fleeces but under ten, then the vicar has one allowing a half penny to the parishoner for everyone under that number-Item The tyth or tenth dish of all Lead Oar gott within any part of the parish after it is cleansed and washed from the rubbish-Item for every hen one egg & for every cock two but if they have no eggs then the parishoner pays to the vicar one penny for three hens & for two ducks eggs one penny and for every Turkey egg one penny Item The tythes of piggs & geese are paid in kind after the same manner with wool & lamb.
Mills within the parish pay as followeth. Item For Biggen Mill four pence. For Hopknowle Mill two shillings sixpence. For Grange Mill one shilling. For Wirkesworth Mills thirteen shillings fourpence. For Cromford Mill one shilling. For Wigwall Mill one shilling. For Alderswagslee Mill two shillings eight pence. For Alton Mill six shillings eight pence and for Whalley Mill four pence. Item Imbrook Grange pays a modus of ten shillings per annum for the tythes of wool & lamb.
Surplesse fees are as followeth. Item for every Buriall sixpence. for every Churching sixpence But if they go out of the parish to be buried or churched or if they come out of another parish to be buried or churched then for every such burying or churching there is due to the vicar of this parish twelve pence. Item for every marriage with banns published one shilling and for every wedding with a licence two shillings. Item Mortuaries are paid according to the statute. Item for every grave made in the chancell six shillings eight pence to the vicar.
