Herbert Marsh (d. 10 Oct 1919) was the Postmaster at Tansley for 19 years and had been secretary
to the Offsprings of Hope (Tansley) Lodge of Oddfellows. In 1891 he was listed as a smallwear weaver at The Knoll,
but by 1901 his daughters Harriett and Eleanor were Assistant Grocers in the shop and grocery. In 1911 Herbert's occupation
was given as a Grocer and Sub postmaster whilst two daughters, Harriet and Alice Annie, were working here as post office assistants. |
