Two officers, 2/6th Sherwood Foresters (Nottinghamshire & Derbyshire
Regiment). They are both Second Lieutenants.
On the left: Cecil Arthur Brown (29 Oct 1893-1917). Born Buxton, son
of Abraham and Lucie Brown. Promoted to Lieut May 1915. Joined 1/6th
Battalion at Sanctuary Wood 7-8 Aug1915. Wounded 9 Aug 1915. KiA, leading
his platoon. Recommended for M.C.
On the right: Eric Maitland Jellicoe (1896-1 Jul 1916). Son of James
T and Lilian Jellicoe. Named in London Gazette as 2nd Lieut Nov 1914.
Transferred to 1/6th,
arriving in France on 28 Aug 1915. KiA, then Lieut. CWGC records him
as M. C. Jellicoe. |
