Date: The battalion was in Epping 8 Feb - 24 Feb 1915 (dates from WO 95/3025/3, Battalion's War Diary, 1914 - 1916, TNA)
Description/Historical Information: Matlock volunteers digging a trench, but this looks like a posed photo as they are clean and with beautifully combed hair. The battalion had moved to Epping for a course in entrenching "under instruction of C.R.E." (from war diary).
