Place: Epping
Property / Street / Road: -
Date: The battalion was in Epping 8 Feb - 24 Feb 1915 (dates from WO 95/3025/3, Battalion's War Diary, 1914 - 1916, TNA)
Description/Historical Information: Large group (40+ soldiers) digging a trench. Of note is the substantial wheelbarrow, with the wide apart handles, which was probably heavy even when empty. The man in his shirt sleeves was undoubtedly the man strong enough to manoeuvre it around. The battalion had moved to Epping for a course in entrenching "under instruction of C.R.E." (from war diary).
