Darley Dale War Memorial

Darley Dale's War Memorial is in the Whitworth Institute Park.

Designed by W. F. Wills of Derby and made by Messrs. Robert Lehane and Company, it cost £500. The memorial was unveiled on Sunday 21st November 1920 by Colonel H. Brooke-Taylor. The Celtic stone coss, made from Stancliffe stone, is about 11 feet in height and has brass memorails plaques on its base.

Following World War II a special Remembrance Service was held to dedicate a further plaque bearing the names of the casualties of that war. It was held on Sunday 5th November 1949. Some of Darley's young men were not originally commemorated on the memorial.
