Property / Street / Road: Bank Road, looking down into Crown Square
Date: Saturday 28 March 1914.
From information published in The High Peak News on 4 April 1914.
Description/Historical Information: Matlock Fire Brigade, mounted on their new horse drawn steam fire engine, leaving the Town Hall yard. A tram can be seen in Crown Square.
The brigade would have been heading for Rockside, where the capabilities of the fire engine were to be demonstrated.

In addition, we can see Thornton House on Bank Road. It is the property on the left with the distinctive bay windows spanning two storeys. Lower down is the police station.
