| Place: |
Luton, Bedfordshire |
| Property / Street / Road: |
Dumfries Street/Salisbury Road/Napier Road/Western
Road junction. |
| Date: |
The battalion was in Luton between 3 Feb and 9 Feb 1915 and then from 24 Feb until they went to
the camp at Dunstable (dates from WO 95/3025/3, Battalion's War Diary, 1914 - 1916, TNA). This is not entirely clear
as there is a gap in the diary from the end of April. |
| Description/Historical Information: |
2/6th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Nottinghamshire & Derbyshire
Regiment). Young recruits standing at ease. Top left is a sergeant
holding a rifle, with other NCOs looking on. |
