Date: The battalion was in Luton between 3 Feb and 9 Feb 1915 and then from 24 Feb - Aug 1915 (dates from WO 95/3025/3, Battalion's War Diary, 1914 - 1916, TNA)
Description/Historical Information: 2/6th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Nottinghamshire & Derbyshire Regiment). Six soldiers, several smoking pipes, standing in street. Some of them were from Matlock. With a few onlookers. It is possible that the men had been billeted out. The soldier sixth from the right is James Edgar Brocklehurst, who transferred to the 1/6th.
