Place: Matlock
Property / Street / Road: Rutland Street (back of)
Date: 1910 - 1914
Description/Historical Information: Hand's garage.
Hands used the stables of the Gate Inn at this time and the access to their yard was from Rutland Street. You can see the top of Smedley's Hydro above the buildings. The groom is with a horse, with the reins held by male wearing a boater. The car behind the horse was part of their fleet of Belsize taxis. Whilst the number plate is partly hidden by the horse, enough is visible when the image is enlarged to see the cars' registration number is R-1036, one of their fleet of taxis.
