  4. The Wye at Symond's Yat. - Full size image

    River Wye at Symonds Yat

One of the Cambria Series, photographed by W. A. Call, The County Studio. Monmouth. (PC).
This section of the River Wye is "not far above Monmouth" and Symond's Yat is also known as Seaman's Gate. A large bend in the river sweeps round in almost a circle. The scenery is not dissimilar to Matlock, with its high hills and rocky outcrops, which is probably why it can be found in collections of Derbyshire views.
A photograph of the view, taken by this photographer, was published in an article in "Country Life" of 24 September 1932 and 11 April 1936. It was then Copyright.

  6. Travelling to the Venetian Fête or Venetian Nights.

Below are some railway posters - one is shown and there are links to the others - and we believe that few of these privately owned items still survive, so are curiosities for both Railway enthusiasts and those wanting to know a little more about the Fête and Illuminations. We've tried hard to locate the copyright holders, including contacting the HMSO, Department of Transport and the York Railway Museum, regarding the railway material but extensive enquiries have proved unsuccessful as no-one claims copyright ownership. Please contact the web mistress if you know who it the copyright owner as we do not wish to infringe copyright law.
